While the idea of the modules by itself is interesting, it's also one of the greatest departures from what made the Dune books great. In essence where the film falls short is the whole interaction between Paul/Jessica/the Atreides and the Fremen. The film never touches on why the Fremen are so strong and what made Duke Leto willingly step into the Emperors trap.

Dune is a movie that has to be seen as any movie. As it was made back in the day. Nothing to be changed. Just see it and judge it for what it is. It is a complex and deep movie.
